eHealth Week 2015 in Riga

Taking place during the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, on 11-13 May Riga hosted the largest e-health event in Europe "eHealth week 2015” and high-level conference organised by the Latvian Ministry of Health and the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and WoHIT (World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition) organised by HIMSS.

EHealth week was opened by Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the President of Estonia, Dr. Guntis Belēvičs, the Minister for Health of the Republic of Latvia, Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety and Claudia Stein, representative of the Regional Office for Europe at the World Health Organization.

The high level conference “Me and my Health – Transcending Borders” on eHealth week 2015 has involved the policy makers and implementers, health industry, information and communication technologies (ICT) developers of the European Union. The aim of the conference was to bring together all partners involved in the health sector, to thoroughly analyse eHealth and healthcare improvement issues. During conference were discussed the importance of patient involvement in treatment process, best solutions for cooperation between the Member States, as well as the latest trends in ICT solutions.

Blue Bridge Technologies and Latvian eHealth team invited event's participants to our presentation "Taking the Mystery Out of HealthCare Payments" on 11th and 12th of May. During presentation Andrejs Strods, Blue Bridge Technologies founder and CEO, demonstrated platform uniting care providers, payers and patients, as also simple web-based tools to enable seamless interaction of all parties and mobile application for patients - insurance plan members.

On Tuesday, 12th of May, 20 eHealth Week participants from different countries attended in the unique field trip, organized by Blue Bridge Technologies, to the most exclusive clinic in Riga - Capital Clinic Riga getting unique insights about clinic everyday's life, technologies, equipment & customers.

On Wednesday 13th of May, within above mentioned conference Andrejs Strods has attended in Ministerial session “The Bottom Line: Funding Models for ICT in Times of Austerity”. The idea of the session was to provide material and food for thought regarding different models of funding eHealth. It was started with a general overview of existing models and then consider experiences of three different markets and specific cases.
